In this post, Corno will oversee leasing, value- enhancing reinvestment and ancillary income for some 20 million square feet of open-air retail properties. Corno succeeds Thomas Litzler, who retires this month, and will report to Brian T. Finnegan, the firm's executive vice president of leasing. "We are very excited to have Vince, a universally well regarded and seasoned real estate executive, join our team and help us continue to unlock the growth opportunities embedded within the Midwest portfolio," said President and CEO James Taylor. Corno has nearly 30 years of retail real estate experience. Most recently, he was executive vice president in charge of leasing and development at DDR Corp., where he was responsible for about 100 million square feet of retail assets. Before joining DDR, he was senior vice president of real estate at Dick's Sporting Goods, where he led the national real estate initiatives, including a store-growth program of about 45 stores and 30 to 50 lease renewals per year. n In brief The latest on the people, jobs and opportunities in retail real estate l JLL hired Dan Gill as a vice president tasked with expanding the firm's Southern California retail practice. Based in the firm's San Diego office, Gill will work with Craig Killman, JLL's San Diego retail brokerage leader, to represent retailers and landlords in the leasing of retail properties throughout the region. l Michael Carter joined Greysteel as a director within the Dallas retail investment sales division. Carter will arrange sales and financing for multitenant and single- tenant triple-net-lease properties in the Dallas–Fort Worth region. l GGP promoted Rosemary Feit to executive vice president and general counsel. Feit joined GGP in late 2004 as a general practice attorney. The firm also named Jared Chupaila executive vice president of leasing. Chupaila came to GGP in 2004 as a result of its acquisition of Rouse Property Group, where he was property manager of the Fashion Show mall, in Las Vegas. "Rosemary and Jared are trusted members of my executive team," said GGP Chief Executive Sandeep Mathrani. "They each represent GGP's core values, are admired by their colleagues and [are] natural leaders within the organization." l Daniel Morris was recruited by commercial real estate services firm CREC as senior vice president of development, to help the firm focus on retail development throughout Florida. Before coming to CREC, Morris was regional vice president of development and leasing at Sears Holdings Corp., and before that, he was vice president of development and acquisitions at RMC Property Group, in Tampa, Fla. l John E. Phelan Jr., CLS, a leasing specialist and longtime supporter of ICSC's education programs, died April 20. Phelan, 58, was involved in the development and redevelopment of several major malls, including The Westchester, in White Plains, N.Y., and Menlo Park Mall, Edison, N.J. Most recently Phelan was employed by Strategic Leasing Advisors, Newport Beach, Calif. Before that, he was president of Berkshire Development and at various times worked for CBRE, New England Development and The O'Connor Group. Among his activities at ICSC, he was chairman of the Certified Leasing Specialist Committee and an instructor in the Advanced Leasing Institute. n
