O C T O B E R 2 0 1 8 / S C T 51 S ince Chadatip Chutrakul's accession to the helm of Bangkok, Thailand–based Siam Piwat in 2009, the company has grown into arguably one of the most important retail and mixed-use developers in Asia. In the process, Siam Piwat has diversified into specialty retail, department stores, food-and-beverage, events-and-ex- hibition management and high-end residential development. The firm, which had 10 subsidiaries when Chutrakul became CEO, has nearly quadrupled that number, to 38. From the beginning, Chutrakul set out to break new ground. "Siam Piwat's mission is to be the first in introducing revolutionary concepts in our projects — creating unparalleled experiences that constantly inspire our customers," she said. True to this philosophy, Chutrakul has overseen some of the most path-breaking retail projects in recent times, including the redevelopments of Siam Center (relaunched in 2013) and Siam Discovery (reopened in 2016), in downtown Bangkok. Both properties have had industry accolades heaped upon them, including ICSC Gold awards for design and development.
