P hysical retailers will be even busier in the com- ing holiday season than they were last year, with a 3.3 percent growth in sales, according to ICSC Research. Last year physical store sales grew by 2.2 percent over 2014. On average, holi- day shoppers plan to spend $683.90 each this year, with 91 percent of them saying they will spend at brick-and- mortar retailers. This rises to 96 percent when shoppers using the websites of physical retailers are included. "We continue to see positive consumer-spending intentions ahead of the holiday season, with an emphasis on shop- ping in physical stores," said ICSC President and CEO Tom McGee. Shoppers are embracing technology in various ways, but not at the expense of physical retailers, the research shows. Eighty-five percent of holiday shoppers say they will research products online before going on to do their shop- ping in stores. Nearly 40 percent plan to order online and collect in stores, up from 32 percent who did so last year.
