The retailer, which sells trendy tech gadgets such as clothes that boosts mindfulness and energy, opened its first store in Palo Alto, Calif. B8ta, which makes its money from a subscription service, plans to use the new funding to open stores in Santa Monica, Calif., and Seattle by the end of this year. 2. General Growth Properties and candy retailer IT'Sugar are col- laborating on a new Santa holiday experience called Winter Escape, at five of the firm's malls in Arizona, Delaware, Florida and Texas. 3. Dunkin' Brands is testing home delivery at certain Baskin-Robbins and Dunkin' Donuts stores in Chicago and Los Angeles. 4. Seven-Eleven Japan Co. plans to double its portfolio of U.S. 7-Eleven stores to 20,000 units and tailor their appeal more to middle-class customers. 5. Von Maur Department Stores will open a 165,000-square-foot store at Simon's Mall of Georgia in Buford, Ga., its third location in the state. After expanding beyond its Midwestern footprint in 2011 with the opening of its first Atlanta location, Von Maur has since moved to additional states, including Alabama, New York and Oklahoma, and will open its first Wisconsin store in the spring. 6. Having failed to find a buyer, Golfsmith International Holdings has filed for bankruptcy protection. The chain operates 109 Golfsmith stores in the U.S. and 55 Golf Town stores in Canada. 7.Hong Kong investment firm Baring Asia, which acquired U.K. apparel chain Cath Kidston, plans to expand the chain, which stands at 226 stores, nearly three-quar- ters of which are located outside Britain. Kidston, known for its col- orful prints, recently benefited from an international publicity storm when Britain's Prince George was photographed in one of its outfits. 8. British apparel retailer Wolf & Badger will open its first stand- alone U.S. store, in New York City's SoHo neighborhood, in February. The two-floor shop will occupy 2,500 square feet.
