JUST WHAT SHE WAS LOOKING FOR FACE TIME ADVANCES IN FACE-RECOGNITION TECHNOLOGY COULD BE A BOON TO LANDLORDS By Curt Hazlett OTHING CAPTURES THE PUBLIC'S FANCY QUITE LIKE science fiction come true. In the 2002 film Minority Report, holo- graphic signs equipped with face-recognition technology lob personal- ized product pitches at the Tom Cruise character as he walks through a mall. "John Anderton!" yells one display after scanning his chiseled mug. "You could use a Guinness right about now!" Now, one decade later, a cousin of the sharp-eyed technology pre- sented in that movie is beginning to appear at malls and airports and in other public settings, albeit without the holograms.
