Global partners Cushman & Wakefield and ICSC agreed to a sponsorship deal under which they will share retail intelligence and collaborate on research platforms such as the European Shopping Centre Database. They will showcase this venture at ICSC's major shows, including RECon (in Las Vegas), RECon Asia, RECon Latin America, the European Conference and the various Deal Making events, plus the University of Shopping Centers. Cheval Sin City souk The Las Vegas Strip is getting yet another flashy retail center. Developer Juno Property Group, led by former Mills chairman and CEO Laurence Siegel, announced plans to open the Grand Bazaar Shops by sometime next fall. The 55,000-square-foot open-air shopping center, to be located at the entrance to Bally's Las Vegas, will comprise about 150 tenants. The stores will measure between 150 and 300 square feet, though the anchors will measure 1,500 to 2,000 square feet. Perella Weinberg Partners Asset Based Value Strategy, Glimcher Capital Group and Caesars Entertainment are helping develop the property. Landlords, retailers rush to help victims of Philippines typhoon Shopping center owners and retailers from around the world are participating in relief efforts as the Philippines recovers from Typhoon Haiyan, by sending cash, volunteers, doctors and other aid. SM Prime Holdings, the Philippines' largest developer, has established a P100 million (about $2.3 million) fund to provide aid and help with reconstruction. SM is also accepting donations at its malls. In November the SM Foundation delivered about 20,000 relief packs to the hardhit city of Tacloban. The Philippines' other major retail landlord, Ayala Land, sent physicians to Cebu and Iloilo, and is also sending aid to help rehabilitate the coastal towns of Carles and Estancia.Ayala Land is also accepting donations at its malls. "You will see a lot of events, like concerts, become a venue for fund-raising," said Ayala Land President and CEO Antonio Aquino. "The concierge booth will have donation boxes, and proceeds of shopping bags will go to rehabilitation projects and to help victims." In the U.S., meanwhile, malls REITs General Growth Properties, Macerich and Simon Property Group are among the landlords supporting relief efforts with Red Cross stations at their malls.
