sAntA MonicA (cAlif.) PlAce "frAGile," At MontreAl eAston centre a winner in the Community Support category. Read on for more details about this year's honorees. A delicAte bAlAnce "Fragile" at Montréal Easton Centre is the Marketing VIVA Award winner. To promote socially responsible initiatives the Montréal Eaton Centre commissioned an environmentally themed sculpture made entirely from recycled materials. The Fragile exhibit — mirroring an eco-system — spanned all five levels of the mall's expansive atrium and was unveiled at the height of Montréal's tourist season. In the first week alone, mall traffic increased by 11 percent, driving increases to sales that continued throughout the summer. The Fragile exhibit also captured international media attention, generating 21 million media impressions through print, radio, television and digital exposure. The center is owned and managed by Ivanhoe Cambridge. Green reflections Parc 66, in Jinan, China, is the Sustainable Design/Development VIVA winner. Parc 66 is a striking new landmark for Jinan, located on the "Golden Avenue" at the center of one of the city's fastest growing districts. Reflecting the 258 SC T / M a y 2 0 1 3 PArc 66 region's natural beauty in its design, Parc 66 takes its theme from the surrounding lakes and springs, sporting undulating roofs, green spaces, curved facades and water-themed interior design. The mall uses LED light to save energy and features a comprehensive recycling and recovery program that treats and supplies recycled water for nondrinking purposes. The center is owned and managed by Shandong Hang Lung Properties Limited. P&T; International Inc. served as architect, while Benoy served as graphic designer. city by the seA Santa Monica (Calif.) Place is the Design/Development VIVA winner: A dramatic, two-year renovation, converting this traditional enclosed mall into a show-stopping open-air destination. Complementing a neighboring promenade, the nearby Pacific Ocean and the iconic Santa Monica Pier, the center's distinguishing features create a landmark, yet also blend seamlessly into the surrounding environment. The center features a rooftop dining deck and The Market, an innovative assemblage of artisanal shops, kitchens and cafés.
