TauBMan's ZHengZHou projecT risinG in the east A There is inTense coMpeTiTion aMong developers To build china's cenTers By Matt Hudgins t the intersection of two arterial thoroughfares in Zhengzhou, china, construction has begun on a 1.5 million-square-foot shopping center that will establish a new retail-entertainment destination. taubman asia, the hong Kong subsidiary of taubman centers, is developing the six-level center as a joint venture with one of china's largest department store chains, Beijing wangfujing Department store Group co., which will also anchor the project. the project is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2015 with about 200 stores, some restaurants, a supermarket, a cinema and a children's play area. the partnership announced this project in february, less than six 246 SCT / M a y 2 0 1 3
